Friday Freebie: The Google Art Project

Today's Friday Freebie has been around for a while and is truly "a piece of art." Rather, it's thousands of pieces of art!

It's the Google Art Project and in a nutshell, it's a digital collection of some of the greatest pieces of art from around the globe. You can browse art by collections or by artist or you can perform a search for topics like modern or abstract.

When you get to a piece of art, you can zoom in to incredible detail. You can choose two pieces of art to set side by side so you can compare and contrast the two. You can even create your own collections and save them (tied to your Google account.)

Some of the collections include virtual tours through museums complete with floor plans. You simply click your way through the museum. On top of all that, there are also exhibit collections for historic moments like Hiroshima, Auschwitz, and D-Day. You can also tour World Wonders like the Grand Canyon, the Palace and Park of Versailles, or Independence Hall.

So treat yourself to some culture and take a tour through the Google Art Project!
